Coastal and Marine Management through Fisher folk Children

NEW DELHI, INDIA: With the assistance of the World Bank, India’s Ministry of Environment and Forests is implementing the Fisher folk Children’s Education Assistance Scheme, a programme which provides educational assistance to children belonging to traditional fishing communities. The programme aims to tap into the traditional knowledge, insights and skills of the traditional fishing communities for marine conservation, while at the same time provide the new generations with modern methods and practices rooted in science.
