Alaskans’ moving images at Indigenous World Film Festival

ALASKA, USA: The seventh annual Indigenous World Film Festival was held in Anchorage, Alaska, on 19-20 February 2011. Among the films screened, Games of the North, produced in association with the Alaska Native Heritage Center, highlighted the relationship sports have to the arctic way of life and the way the knowledge is passed down through the generations. In Tunniit: Retracing the Lines of Inuit Tattoos, viewers follow Canadian filmmaker Alethea Arnaquq-Baril to nine communities in Canada as she interviews elders about the history of the tattoos.
