Banisteriopsis caapi is the correct spelling of the scientific binomial for their indexed entry of Ayahuasca (vine of the soul) in Malpighiaceae family. Jaguars also use this plant.
This entry is from their index: Ayahuasca (Banisteriosis caapi). Del quechua ayak, “amargo”, y waska, “soga”. Bejuco o liana, considerado planta maestra. Combinada con la chacruna (Psychotria viridiris) se convierte en la bebida conocida como ayahuasca.
