Building indigenous resilience in the face of land-grabbing, deforestation in Malaysian Borneo

CALIFORNIA, USA: In this piece, Rhett Butler from Mongabay.com interviews The Borneo Project, a Berkeley-based non-profit that works in partnership with indigenous communities. The Borneo Project focuses its efforts in Sarawak, Malaysia, where conflicts between indigenous populations and developers are intense. Many of the initiatives supported by The Borneo Project aim to boost resilience of indigenous communities, including small-scale energy production, mapping native customary land, and providing legal aid.
