Weaving tradition

CALIFORNIA, USA: The California Indian Basketweavers Association was formed in 1992, in part because more and more people realized they were the last people with knowledge that had been passed down for generations. The association was established to preserve, promote and perpetuate the basket weaving traditions of California’s Indian tribes. Hosted recently by the Hoopa Valley Tribe, the association’s annual Basketweavers Gathering offered a plethora of workshops and training in the cultural art form.
